The Insurance Crisis is Over!!

We can breathe again......
As of September 1st my insurance from my previous employer was cut off, and in order to do Cobra for the whole family we would of had to pay $1,200 a month for coverage. This is a high amount and we would of done it if there were no other alternatives but Davides coverage (after the dreaded 3 months probation) was set to start on the 19th...so why pay all that money for 18 days of coverage?
We took a chance and decided to go without for this time period.
The past 2 weeks or so, I've been giving my boys vitamins, watching them like a hawk, did not permit any horsing around or dangerous activities (a task almost impossible with 3 energetic kids), and made sure that any "pre-existing" conditions were going to be taken care of once the new insurance took over.
Well, I'm happy to say we were successful, no bones were broken, no fevers were had and the kids and us managed to stay out of trouble for 18 days. Now that we are covered........let the games begin...

I would have done the same as you. I'd rather pay out of pocket for 1 sick kid visit than COBRA. I have heard that COBRA is retroactive so if something did happen, all you had to do is pay the premium and then you would be covered, or so I have heard. Glad you are back in business though@
