The fall season has begun............

well for soccer anyway...........
Matthew just started his first official soccer season. He is on the Raptors......(the dinosaur team as he likes to call it). They played the first game last Sunday and won 1-0. I was amazed by the skills that these 1st and 2nd graders were displaying. They were wonderful, and the coach is very supportive even when we found out that the "pussification of America" is effecting our town soccer league. The director came by and said that as of this season the "pee wee" league will no longer keep official score and have a 1st and 2nd place trophy, but that all the players will get an equal participation trophy............WTF?????????????? The kids play soo hard and now they are just like everyone else........how are these kids going to learn to have a competitive spirit and enjoy the joy of winning and deal with the pain of losing?? they are 6 and 7, I really think they're ready for it.
But that's a whole other debate for a whole other day!!!
Let the games begin..... (Anthony starts his new league next week)

Ugh, people, what if we had that non-competitive attitude in corporations? Um, yeah, DOESN'T WORK.

But--I'm so glad he's enjoying soccer!

Same reason they don't allow dodgeball in schools anymore...and at my oldest son's high school, they don't even have valedictorians or salutatorians anymore. Have to protect the others' feelings and all that....BAH!
