The boys still managed to turn my kitchen into a disaster zone, but at least we have some yummy treats to share with our company on Christmas day!
(that's unless they find the hiding spot)
for the chocolate chips we used this recipe that I found on facebook on a friends page.
they are really easy and super yummy
The Butlers Chocolate Chips
then we made sugar cookies...this one was a first for me since I usually buy the ready made pillsbury ones and just place them on the tray and bake...so this was certainly and adventure.
we used this recipe
Sugar Cookies!
1 1/2 cups butter
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup powdered sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
5 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
Powdered sugar, for rolling
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
mix butter and sugars until creamy.
Add in eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly.
Add in vanilla, and beat for 10 seconds.
Add in baking powder and salt, beat again.
Add in flour 1 cup at a time, mix for 15 seconds between each addition.
Do not over mix, this process should take about one minute.
Chill dough for up to a week in the fridge, or roll out and cut right away. (we chilled for 1 hour)
Bake on a parchment lined cookie sheet for about 7 minutes, or until golden brown on the bottom.
for the glaze we used this recipe:
2 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons milk
Mix the powdered sugar with the vanilla and milk. Then add more milk a bit at a time until it is thin enough to drizzle over cookies and sprinkle them with Christmas sprinkles
the results were delicious.

I made the chocolate chip cookies the other day with Alyson! They are SUPER yummy! I even froze some of the dough in pre-formed balls for later on!
the last batch went really fast, so I'm keeping these hidden till Christmas day, I just let them have 1 each!
I love cookie making with kids!! Looks like a good time.
Yum! Really glad they turned out well. :)
