Bye Bye Tonsils!! and Adenoids Too!

Wow, Matthew has been having an eventful month, first he lost his first tooth, then he turned 7 and today he had his Tonsils and Adenoids (2nd time for these) removed.
We decided to have his tonsils and adenoids removed when we went to visit the ENT as a recommendation from his speech evaluation at school. Matthew has always had a scratchy voice, and she was worried that something was irritating his vocal chords.
We spoke to the ENT about that problem and about his sleep and attention issues and since his adenoids grew back (he had them removed at 20 months) we decided that removing his tonsils and adenoids would help the strain on his vocal chords and his night breathing, so that he would sleep better and be able to focus during the day. Next month we will also do a sleep study to rule out sleep apnea, and if nothing helps we will then look into medication for his ADHD. I'm just trying to go through all the options before medicating because of personal beliefs.
We went in today at 7:15, they prepped him and had him in surgery by 8:20. Davide had to go in with him when they knocked him out cause I just don't do that!
He was out of surgery by 9:15 and on to recovery. He was very cranky and squirmy when he woke up, but no more than usual, the kid just doesn't like waking up.
He hung out in recovery for a while, had some ice chips, ice pops and apple juice, and once he got his IV removed and went to the bathroom we were set to go.
Right now he's on the sofa hanging out and drinking his milk shake, he's feeling ok, and we will be keeping an eye on him the next week or so, giving him his meds and keeping him hydrated. The worst is over and he's on his way to a speedy recovery.
Of course I had my camera phone so I took some pics while we were there.

Aww I hope he's feeling all better soon! I didn't know that adenoids could grow back - how odd. Well I hope that this helps him sleep better.

YAY on the 20 weeks!!

Yay for successful surgeries and 20 weeks!

So when you asked how I felt about April Rose did you know the extent? I missed the last post before the website disappeared and was upset about that, but then I saw the headline of the chicago tribune site today and am just sick.
