Government Tea Time

Every year our schools 5th graders put on a Government Tea Party. All the 5th graders pick a person who is important in our nations government and history and write a book report on them and then answer a bunch of questions about the person, learn the answers and on this special day, dress up as the character and have a tea party at school where the 5th grade parents and the local governing officials are invited to attend and get to know the characters.
Anthony chose to be Abraham Lincoln. In order to get the project done I had to take him to the local library (haven't been there since he was a toddler since I'm such an internet research person).
We got him a library card and he chose 2 books to use for his report.
He did his paper, (and a struggle that was) and then it was on to fill out the questions for his presentation. He worked really hard on these, and since the first scheduled tea party was postponed due to snow, he had some extra days to study.
On the day of the party, I took Christopher with me, and we had a great time, we got to sit at the table and got to know a bunch of important people. President Obama was there, as were Senator McCain and Secretary of State Clinton....a few George Washingtons and a Sun glass Clad Governator! LOL
It was a lot of fun, and I'm proud to say that Anthony did great!

In this pictures Abe Lincoln hanging out with his buddy George Washington!

ETA: later that day when Christopher was at Mommy & Me and his teacher was asking him where he went that morning he said "I go to Anthony school and he had a hat and a mustache on his chin". LOL Gotta love 3 year olds!
