People are so insensitive.

Coming out of church today I had another incident with "insensitivity".
I don t' understand how people justify being such idiots, don't they know that they have to think for a minimum of 5 seconds before saying something?
Today at 8am mass, since it was being said in the memory of some distant relatives there was a bunch of family members that I hadn't seen in a while, including those that I see every Sunday.
I go over to my great Aunt & Uncle and I get the usual "I'm so sorry" and then I get the usual...."it also happened to so and so"........ok I know I'm not the first person who ever miscarried, but knowing there are others out there doesn't really make me feel better....but whatever.
Got another bunch of I'm sorry's and the Priest offered to say a special mass.....all good.
But then..........I run into this distant relative by marriage, that I only see at extended family parties and she pulls one on me..."I heard you lost your baby, so sorry, but it's OK you have plenty"....WTF????????????? I have plenty, so it's supposed to hurt less??????
If I had 20 kids, I would still grieve for this one just the same....what a messed up thing to say....she's soo lucky that my parents taught me manners, and all I said was "it happens" and walked away.......but wow, some people are such idiots.

sooo this is my resolution:
I am starting my countdown to something to look forward to:
DH and I are running away for a weekend, without the boys and with some friends, so I will try and focus on our mini vacation for a little while....after all I get to see GOOFY!!!!!!

Aww Goofy. I'm glad you're looking forward to your getaway. My mouth literally dropped when I read your post. So insensetive.

You are a much stronger person than I am. I think I would have tried to poke their eyes out, that was my first thought when I read your post.

I am so excited for you and your husband to get away alone. I hope you have a really fun time with Goofy!

I dont think I could have managed to be so nice... I can totally hear someone saying that to me though. I had a lady at work come in with twins (one boy and one girl) and her older son. A co-worker must not have seen the older boy and says, "Oh, twins. You must be done. You've got it made with one boy and one girl." The lady comes back with, "I'm only 23, I'm not making any decisions now." The coworker then goes on to tell her why she should be done with two. I wanted to smack her. I just dont get people sometimes. No respect or decency anymore.

Ugh, I am sure that was tough to hear. All I can tell you is that sometimes people just don't know what to say, and end up saying something that is totally inappropriate. : (
