Ok, when I was a child growing up in Italy, I always had the most amazing tan, it was always a golden brown.....ohh soo shiny and soo nice.
Since we have moved here (17 years ago......) tanning has no longer been an option, because Italian or not, I burn.....maybe it's the old age, the different angle of the NY sun......I don 't know....
Well 2 out of 3 of my children have my skin tone, so they tan very well, Anthony gets the same beautiful color that I used to have, and after looking "dirty" for a few days Matthew does too. Christopher on the other hand is WHITE!!! He has light hair, blue eyes and extremely fair skin....so I've become very careful.
On Sunday we went to our town pool and I made sure I had my ultra water proof 50spf sunblock that I sprayed all the kids and Davide with every 1/2 hour........well very responsible mommy forgot to spray herself, so I am now an Italian Lobster.
My back is completely red, as are my shoulders and of course my big nose..........
Sleeping has been a challenge and wearing a bra.........well that's another story.....
But i'm happy to say that the boys had no sign of burn at all....
until...... yesterday, when the older 2 went to the pool with their grandmother and Matthew came home with a terrible burn on his chest.....
I want to scream.......you know I do.......but from now on I have learned that sending the kids in swim shorts and a towel does not cut it, I have to remember to send them already sprayed and with sunscreen to spare.....it's my job to make sure they are protected.....I will learn not to depend on anyone else.........
but I still want to SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok, I feel better, now off to get ready for Bon Jovi!
