Memoirs of a Geisha

I started this book for 2 reasons; My cousin recommended it to me when she came back from living in Japan, and also, I saw the movie and imagined that the book could offer so much more.
This was a fairly quick read, in other words, I just couldn't put it down. I read most of it in my car while waiting for the camp bus to bring Anthony home on the hot summer afternoons of 2007. The writing was great, I could totally visualize and hear their voices. I really enjoyed the story and was a little disappointed when I read the section after the book was over that explained the author was a man and that is was basically all fiction. As you read this book it's a woman that you hear....so I was actually impressed with the author. I was also sad when the book ended, I could keep reading it forever.

I think I read this book last year. I had no idea it was written by a man! lol. That's kind of how I was with reading The Kite Runner, I kept thinking it was true, but it totally isn't!

I know what you mean. I was so dissapointed that I kept reading after the book was over. It was sad to me that all of that didn't really happen. Good imagination though. Very good book!
